I thought I’d give you a little info on the sustainable fabrics we are using, someone asked me yesterday what makes our line organic and eco-friendly.
Organic Cotton
We do our best to make the most sustainable fabrics choices from beginning to end, and one of those is using certified organic cotton. Organic Cotton is grown without toxic pesticides, and is GMO free.

According to the Organic Trade Association:
“Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Third-party certification organizations verify that organic producers use only methods and materials allowed in organic production. Organic cotton is grown without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. In addition, federal regulations prohibit the use of genetically engineered seed for organic farming. All cotton sold as organic in the United States must meet strict federal regulations covering how the cotton is grown.”

Modal Blend
So you may notice on our website that we are using a silk blended with modal for some of our pieces. This particular fabric actually more eco-friendly than even organic cotton. Modal is a processed fabric made from beech trees, which are a sustainable natural resource grown mainly in Austria. No artificial planting, irrigation, or chemicals are required for their growth.

Re-purposed Fabrics:
“15 to 20 percent of the fabric used to produce clothing winds up in the nation’s landfills because it’s cheaper to dump the scraps than to recycle them.” – NY Times
fabric waste
All of our straps are made from repurposed fabrics left over from other designers. Because of this, our strap and trim colors and prints will vary, depending on what is available. It’s a great way to save fabrics that were on the way to dumps, and use them in a creative and beautiful way!
Please contact us if you have any questions on our materials, we are always happy to answer!
